Robert Sturdy attends EU-ACP Joint Parliamentary Assembly in Budapest.

Brussels, 19th May 2011 – MEPs and their counterparts from Africa, the Caribbean and Pacific countries met in Budapest at the 21st ACP-EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly (JPA). Parliamentarians from all regions gather to discuss issues ranging from justice and reconciliation in the Côte d’Ivoire to the recent democratic awakenings in the North African states and from democracy building to accountability of political leaders.

 

Robert Sturdy, MEP for the East of England and Conservative spokesman on International Trade in the European Parliament, attended the week long forum and commented:

 

“EU-ACP meetings are a fantastic opportunity not just to discuss ways in which these regions of the world can benefit mutually from increased trade but also for the EU and its partners to discuss a wider political agenda”.
