Robert Sturdy supports the Honest Food Campaign
Robert has campaigned in recent years for more transparency regarding the labelling of food products so they display their true country of origin. He is delighted this is being promoted by Conservative’s and has signed up to their Honest Food Campaign.
This was launched to ensure that consumers are made fully aware of exactly where their food comes from.
He believes it is disgraceful that supermarkets can claim that food is produced in the UK when in fact it has been imported.
“I believe that people have a right to know where their food comes from. Under the present system, meat from abroad can be imported into Britain to be processed into bacon, sausages and pies which can then be labelled to suggest they are British.
“This is totally dishonest. Consumers have a right to know the true source of origin of what they eat.”
